Vickie S. Baird, 75 of Ericson, NE passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, NE.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Sandhills Baptist Fellowship, Ericson, NE with Pastor John Schere officiating. Burial will follow at Pibel Cemetery, rural Ericson, NE.

Vickie Sue Baird, daughter of Robert and Phyllis (Morgan) Mitchell, was born on August 9, 1950, in Norton, KS. She was baptized into the Christian faith at Edgar Christian Church. Vickie grew up in Edgar, NE attending school there, and later graduated from Sandy Creek High School. Following her graduation, she earned her degree in radiologic technology from Mary Lanning and went on to complete radiation therapy training at Washburn University in Topeka, KS.

Vickie was first married to Terry Madson, and from this union she was blessed with two daughters, Sara and Christy.

On April 3, 1993, she was united in marriage to Keith Baird in Hastings, NE. The couple made their home in Hastings, where Vickie worked as a radiation therapist for 40 years at Morrison Cancer Center at Mary Lanning Hospital. She retired in 2016. In 2022, Vickie and Keith moved to Ericson, NE.

Faith was an important part of Vickie's life. She attended the Evangelical Free Church in Hastings and later the Sandhills Baptist Fellowship in Ericson.

Vickie had many passions and interests. She was an avid Nebraska Volleyball fan and took great joy tending to her garden and flowers, especially her roses and zinnias. She delighted in the visits of hummingbirds among her blooms. She also loved traveling and camping with Keith, spending time in Arizona and Texas.

Vickie is survived by her husband: Keith Baird of Ericson, NE; two daughters: Sara (Ryan) Beiermann of Lincoln, NE; Christy (Adam) Freouf of Ericson, NE; two stepchildren: Ben Baird of Hillsboro, IL; Jennifer (Geoffrey) Sheldon of Fairfax, VA; five grandchildren: Parker, Casey, and Cort Freouf; Lydia and Alexandra Sheldon; sister: Deb (Ken) Lipovsky of Hastings, NE; brothers: Gordon (Vicki) Mitchell of Hastings, NE, and Greg (Joyce) Mitchell of Hastings, NE; along with a niece, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Tate Freouf.
