Vi V. Voelker 90, of Newman Grove, NE passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Boone County Health Center, Albion, NE.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE with Rev. Claire Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Newman Grove, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Violet "Vi" Volanda Voelker was born on January 1, 1936, in Stanton, NE to Arthur and Volanda (Borgelt) Schlecht. She attended various schools before graduating from Stanton High School in 1953. On June 22, 1954, she was united in marriage to Leo Lester Voelker in Stanton.
Vi dedicated many years to serving her community, driving a school bus for Newman Grove Public Schools as well as working in the kitchen at Mid-Nebraska Nursing Home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Vi enjoyed league bowling, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also cherished traveling with her husband and making lasting memories with her family.
Vi is survived by her children: Dawn (George) Mendenhall of Madrid, IA; Deanna (Kirk) Lilja of Newman Grove, NE; Lester (Deb) Voelker of Newman Grove, NE; and Leon (LaRhea) Voelker of Battle Creek, NE; son-in-law: Chuck Hoadley of Newman Grove, NE; 14 grandchildren: Chelsea (Rob) McLeod; Matt Mendenhall; Angie (Jon) Beck; Kailey (Bill) Fernau; Kelly (Jordan Cave) Hoadley; April (Mark) Swanson; Mandy Lilja; Michael (Carrie) Voelker; Joseph (Megan) Voelker; Amy (Noah) Sebade; Jason Voelker; Kristi (John) DeOss; James (Kendra) Voelker; Jeff (Jamie) Hoadley; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law: Shirley Schlecht; brother-in-law: Loren Tejkl; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Leo; daughter: Deborah Hoadley; grandson: Chris Hoadley; sister: Marcelene Tejkl; and brothers: Dallas (Anita) Schlecht and Duane Schlecht.
