Rose M. Haggerty, 82 of Spalding, NE, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Brookefield Park Care Center in St. Paul, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE with Fr. Antony Thekkekara officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Spalding, NE. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. wake service at the church.

Rose Mary Haggerty, daughter of Henry and Margaret (Hardy) Eckard, was born September 28, 1938 on a farm in Garfield County, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE, and received her education at Burwell, NE.
On April 23, 1957, Rose was united in marriage to Harold Bernard Haggerty at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. They lived and farmed near Spalding before moving to town in 1975.She was a mother, a homemaker and a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, and a member of St. Anne's Altar Society. She had a passion for caring for others, from the elderly at Friendship Villa to the kids that came to the daycare in her home. While living on the farm Rose was known for the large vegetable garden she had as well as many fruit trees. After moving to town she started crocheting and embroidering and made many baby blankets for the grand kids and every Christmas each child and grandchild received a quilt block to add to their collection.
Rose is survived by six children: Roberta Haggerty and Ann Glaser, both of Spalding, NE; Frances Bauer of St. Paul, NE; Linda Haggerty of Spalding, NE; Leo (Gina) Haggerty of Cushing, NE; Claire Landers of Wolbach, NE: two brothers: Ernie (Linda) Eckard of McCool Junction, NE and Charles Eckard of Spalding, NE; two sisters Delores (Dwain)Kranz of Eddyville, NE and Sarah Eckard of Oconto, NE; grandchildren: Val Glaser (Adam Bult), Amber and Brandon Hartsock, Jana and Mibin Joseph; Jodi Glaser, Alliegh and Logan McCoy, Melissa and Robbie Juarez, Andrew and Carlie Bauer, Jalee and Ki Haggerty, Tesla and Cayda Landers; great-grandchildren: Charlie and Evan Polen; Lily, Penelope and Emory Hartsock; Jackson Juarez; Hadley and Clinton Bauer; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, children: Louis. James, Henry and Pauline; sisters: Margaret and Evelyn; nephews: Ronnie and Gary Kranz.
