Ronald J. Weltruski, Sr. 75, of Primrose, NE died on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, NE.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, NE with Rev. Carolann Hopcke officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #347 of Primrose, NE, American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #736 of Albion, NE, Army Funeral Honor Guard and American Legion Riders. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Omaha Fisher House. Checks can be made out to "Omaha Fisher House", with "1604" in the memo line and addressed to: VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System Attn: Fisher House, 4101 Woolworth Avenue, Omaha, NE 68105.

Ronald Joseph Weltruski Sr., son of Joseph Louis and Jane Elaine (Schuchhardt) Weltruski was born on November 13, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, NE at the Euricks Nursing Home. He was baptized on March 5, 1950, and confirmed on April 7, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church. Ron attended Little Red School House, Primrose High School, and graduated from Spalding Public in 1967. Following graduation, Ron joined the United States Army on February 13, 1968, and served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on September 19, 1970.

On November 11, 1972, Ron married the love of his life, Josephine "Jo" Choyeski, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE. Together Ron and Jo enjoyed attending dances (especially polka), card party, dinners with friends, and exploring various routes when traveling to and fro. The couple resided in Spalding, NE before moving to the family farm five miles north of Primrose where they raised their four children. In addition to farming, Ron worked various other ag-related jobs with his favorite being People's Service in Spalding where he serviced tires on trucks and farm equipment. He enjoyed the relationships built with area farmers while servicing their tractors and machinery. However, his most enjoyable and fulfilling job was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Ron was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Albion, NE. He was also a part of the American Legion 347 in Primrose, VFW 736 in Albion, and the NRA. Ron loved visiting with people and was a man with many talents. He enjoyed buying and fixing classic cars, tinkering with things, lending a helping hand, and spending time with his family.

Ron is survived by wife of 52 years: Josephine "Jo" Weltruski of Primrose, NE; four children: Ron (Michelle) Jr. Weltruski of Spalding, NE; Susan (fiancé Eric Roach) Esch of Cedar Rapids, NE; Dennis (Melissa) Weltruski of Spalding, NE; Jeff (Sandy) Weltruski of Spalding, NE; 15 grandchildren: Brooklyn, Belle, Brynlee, and Connor Weltruski; Hylee (fiancé Dakota Sharar), Chris (fiancée Alisha Dahlberg), and Lizzie Esch; McKenna (James) Woodson; Aaron, Kristen, and Ryan Weltruski; Ashley, Tessa, Kyla, and Lacey Weltruski; one great grandchild: McKenzie Dozler; three sisters: Connie Kleffner of Spalding, NE; Priscilla Weltruski of Columbus, NE; Pauline (Jerry) Dunfee of Columbus, NE; two sisters-in-law: Jan (Bill) Smith of St. Edward, NE; and Gladys Choyeski of Cedar Rapids, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law: Raymond and Margaret Choyeski; one brother: Joe Weltruski; three brothers-in-law: Robert Kleffner; Dave Weverka; and Joseph Choyeski.
