Rodney S. Howard

Rodney S. Howard, 61 of Cedar Rapids, NE died Monday, April 5, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lincoln, NE.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. , ending with a time of sharing on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, NE. Burial will be at Main Cemetery, Belgrade, NE at a later date .

Rodney Steven Howard, son of Fred Howard and Irene (VanBuskirk) Hansen was born on September 10, 1959 at Winner, SD.  He grew up in Springview, NE and moved to Fullerton, NE in his teens.

He married Trudy Williams after high school and had a daughter Melissa Jo.  In 1980 he married Kathleen Powers and they had a son Jade Steven, and also gained a step-son Anthony Carl.

He worked at Monforts and then started trucking with his wife for many years.  Later he worked at a feed lot and finished his career working with Rob Kleffner in Spalding, NE as a mechanic.

He played pool in Grand Island on an 8-ball league for 40 years.  His hobbies were fishing and hunting.  Rod loved his grandchildren, all seven of them ranging in age from 1 ½ years to 21 year.

Rodney is survived by his wife Katie of Cedar Rapids, NE: three children: Tony (Jen) Wichman; Melissa (Israel) Ureste; and Jade (Jess) Howard all of Grand Island, NE: seven grandchildren: Jade Jr. Howard; Desree, Jocelynn, Hailey, and Donavan Ureste; Gabe and Alyssa Westin; two brothers: Rex Howard, Ray (Annette) Howard; two sisters: Lorraine (Jimmy Joe) McCathy; Frieda Smith; along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Minnie Urkowski.
