Robert P. Strong

Robert Perry Strong, 76 of Newman Grove, NE died on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the Norfolk Veterans Home.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Fellowship Bible Church in Newman Grove, NE, with Pastor Chris Phelps officiating. Inurnment will follow at Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #73 of Newman Grove, NE. Visitation will be 5:00- 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Levander Funeral Home of Newman Grove, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Perry Strong was born January 29, 1946, in Neligh, NE to Robert H. and Betty Ruth (McMurry) Strong. He grew up and attended school in Newman Grove. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17 to serve in Vietnam and later earned his GED through the Army.

On January 2, 1970, Robert was united in marriage to Patricia Kloch in Alliance, NE. The couple lived in Stromsburg where Robert was a Lineman for the GE company. He also worked as a mechanic. He and Patricia moved to Kearney where he started his career with the 4x4 Feed company for 25 years before retiring.  Following the death of his father, they moved to Newman Grove to be near his mother Betty.

Robert was a long-time member of American Legion Post #52 in Kearney. He participated with the color guard at many funerals and other events and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Legion. He was a firearm enthusiast and especially liked military weapons. Robert even operated a gun shop with his brother after moving back to Newman Grove. Robert will be remembered as a loyal and selfless man. One of his greatest joys in life was his granddaughter. She always brightened Robert's day and knew how to put a smile on his face.

Robert is survived by his two sons: Jeremy (Mandy) Strong of Kearney, NE; Brian Strong of Kearney, NE; granddaughter: Cecelia Strong of Kearney, NE; sisters: Cindy (Dan) Aase of Newman Grove; NE, Robertta (Dale) Bender of Humphrey, NE; brothers: Richard Strong of Norfolk, NE; Wayne (Kim) Strong of Gencoe, MN; Timothy (Kathy) Strong of Newman Grove, NE; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Welcoming Robert in heaven is his wife, Patricia Strong; and parents: Robert H. Strong and Betty Ruth Strong.
