Robert "Bob" D. King, 81, of Albion, NE, passed away on the evening of Thursday, December 28, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family at Bryan-West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Akron Community Church, rural Albion with Pastor Kurt Kinney officiating. Immediately following the service a lunch will be held at the Akron Community Building. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #162, VFW Post #736 and the Army Funeral Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.
Bob King was born November 30th, 1942, in rural Newman Grove, NE. He was the second child and first son of Dale and Pearl (Carrico) King. In his youth, Bob was active in FFA, and earned Eagle rank in Boy Scouts. Throughout his school years he worked on the family farm. He joined the Army Reserve in 1966 and trained in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He served in Norfolk, NE through 1971. During his working years, he worked at the Walnut Grove Feed Store, M&M Farm Supply and Sand Livestock Systems.
Bob was a former member of the Newman Grove Volunteer Fire Department and also served as a church elder. Bob was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting (especially during deer season), and spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was a born-again Christian and dearly loved the Lord.
Bob is survived by his wife: Donna King of Albion, NE; children: Jeff (Deborah) King of Tacoma, WA; Lisa (John Esser) King of Nebraska City, NE; Becky Rudloff of Newman Grove, NE; step-children: Michael (Sheri) Rudloff; Ronald (JoAnn) Rudloff; Diane (Kevin) Wynegar; Julie (Jay) Beierman; John (Julie Rieflin) Noble; grandchildren: Joshua and Levi King; Jamie Petersen; step-grandchildren: Keith Walsh; Kaylee Merten; Keri Hagemann; Kelly Hranac; Marissa Rubeck; James, Kyle, and Caleb Noble; great-grandchildren: Cy, Dax, and Mataya Petersen; Laylie Loller; step-great-grandchildren: Kaden Walsh; Corbyn Towey; Sam, Lauren, and Whit Hagemann; Henry and Oliver Hranac; Julia and Beau Rubeck; Briggs Noble; siblings: Linda Leeson; Karen Lyon; Tom King; and Peg Duhachek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Gene King.
