Philamae Ann Towey

Philamae Ann (Boesch) Towey, 94 of Cedar Rapids, NE, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society, Albion, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. wake service at church.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of the arrangements.

Philamae Ann Towey, was born February 6, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, NE to Anthony A. and Theresa J. (Kleffner) Boesch. She received the sacrament of Baptism on February 10, 1929, by Fr. Vermielen, and received the sacrament of First Holy Eucharist as a young child. She received the sacrament of Confirmation September 18, 1938, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Philamae attended Cedar Rapids High School and graduated with the class of 1946.

On June 13, 1949, Philamae was married to Jerry Towey in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony and to that union five children were born: Janet, Jim, Tim, Terry, and Don.

She was a faithful Catholic. Jerry and she had a true devotion to our Blessed Mother. She loved the Rosary, shopping, gardening, and most of all her family.

Philamae is survived by her five children: Janet (Jim) Goering of Geneva, NE; Jim (Carol) Towey of Cedar Rapids, NE; Tim (Nancy) Towey of Omaha, NE; Terry (Rita) Towey of Bloomington, MN; Don (Andree) Towey of Elkhorn, NE; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; sister: Mary Ann Buettner; brother: Don (Mary Pat) Boesch both of Cedar Rapids, NE; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Tony and Theresa (Kleffner) Boesch; husband Gerald "Jerry" Towey; brother: James "Bud" Boesch; parents-in-law: Thomas and Mae (Dugan) Towey.
