Pauline Marie Braun, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Goedicke)McGuire was born on June 12, 1923 at the family farm in Greeley County, Nebraska. She attended St. Anthony's Catholic School and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1941.  Following high school, Pauline received her teaching certificate through normal training.  She taught school for a few years, at District 28 in Boone County, west of Cedar Rapids.

On June 2, 1947 Pauline was united in marriage to Francis H. Braun at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, NE.  They were married for 62 years. The couple lived on a farm west of town in Greeley County. In 1961 they moved to a farm closer to Cedar Rapids, and then in 1981 the family moved to town. Pauline was a housewife and homemaker.

Pauline was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, St Anthony's Altar Society, Cedar Rapids Art Guild and the Timbercreek Ladies Card Club.

She enjoyed singing, art, sketching and painting portraits and outdoor scenery. Pauline was passionate about exercising her right to vote, and voted in every election. She also loved the library.  While in the nursing home, they would get books for her and Pauline would say "get me as many as the law will allow!" She was interested in history, books about the United States presidents, and would read encyclopedias, (because they were short stories) In her later years she would read the Bible or would have someone read it to her.  She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary every day.  Pauline loved getting pictures, letters, and cards in the mail from family and friends. She kept them and re-read them many times and would share them with her visitors.

Pauline was a faithful member of the Cedar Rapids High School Alumni, and she looked forward to attending the annual banquet. She was the oldest member of the Alumni, and would have celebrated her 80th year in August 2021.

Most of all, Pauline loved her family and looked forward to family/holiday get togethers.  She will be remembered for her infectious smile, her vivacious spirit who persevered through her life's challenges and the fact that she started getting gray hair in her 90's.

Pauline is survived by her three children: Jerry Braun of Cedar Rapids, NE; Irene (Jim) Dresch of Primrose, NE; Elaine (Dan) Zoucha of Schuyler, NE; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Angela (Eric) Allgood and children Jackson and Jacy of Henderson, NE; Krysti Sova and children Rhylee, Gunnyr, and Zaydin of York, NE; Chad (special friend Mariah) Braun of Columbus, NE: Jordan Zoucha of Lincoln, NE; Justin Zoucha of Schuyler, NE; one brother: Bob McGuire of Greeley, NE; two sisters: Sr. Joan Monica "Peg" McGuire of St. Catharine, KY; Winnie Becker of Seattle, WA; two sisters-in-law: Marcella "Sally" Braun of Columbus, NE; Rosella Braun of Cedar Rapids, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fritz in 2009, infant baby daughter in 1950, three sons: Joe in 2007, Jim in 2014, Ron in 2018; and grandson Matthew James in 1987.
