Paul "Whitey" L. Beister, 88, of Cedar Rapids, NE passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Cloverlodge Care Center, St. Edward, NE.
There were private family services held.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Paul L. Beister, son of Edward and Lucille (Perry) Beister was born on March 13, 1937 at Cedar Rapids, NE. He attended school at country schools until the 8th grade. Paul worked at the local sale barn, for farmers in the area, and in Columbus when he was young. He was drafted into the United States Army and served for 3 years during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
On December 31, 1972, Paul was united in marriage to Rosemary Towey at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, NE. They were blessed with two children, Edward and Lori. They made their home in Cedar Rapids. Paul continued farming with his son Ed.
Paul was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Paul loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed putting in crops each year and raising livestock. Paul liked to fish and hunt, and he was a rodeo fan. His favorite rodeo was Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he attended multiple times. In his later years he looked forward to riding in the semi with his friend George.
Paul is survived by his wife Rosemary of Cedar Rapids, NE; son Edward (Jaimie) of Cedar Rapids, NE; daughter Lori Ransen of Norfolk, NE; 4 grandchildren: Alyssa and George Beister, and Lucas and Cole Ransen; brother Jim Beister of Albion, NE; sisters: Dorothy (Don) Ballweg and Margaret Remm of Columbus, NE; sisters-in-law Marge Beister of Columbus, NE: Pat Kolm of Cedar Rapids, NE: brother-in-law John (Sheila) Towey of Cedar Rapids, NE: along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Jeff Ransen; brother Francis Beister; sister-in-law Pat Beister; brothers-in-law Howard Remm and Gayland Kolm.
