Nina Johnson

Nina M. Johnson, 74 of Albion, NE passed away in her home on Sunday, June 2, 2019.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, at the church with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service officiated by Rev. Mary Avidano.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Nina M. Johnson was born April 3, 1945 at Albion, NE and was adopted by her loving parents, Bob and Opal Scarlett. She attended school at Boone County School District #18 west of Petersburg and graduated from Albion High School in 1963.

On March 6, 1965 Nina married James Lawrence New at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Island, NE. The couple lived in Grand Island and then in Iowa for several years. To this union two children, Judith and James, were born.

Nina married Donald D. Johnson on August 7, 1982 at the United Methodist Church in Albion. Nina gained two more sons, Danny and Denny Johnson. They resided in Albion. Nina worked at Azonic and then became a dispatcher/jailer for the Boone County Sheriff's Department in Albion. She worked there 26 years, retiring in 2016. Nina was a member of the Nebraska Emergency Communications Association. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved cats, dogs, eagles, wolves, mountain lions and chihuahuas. Nina and Don enjoyed taking drives, taking the grandchildren fishing, and spent many hours sitting under the tree in their front yard with their dog Kuzi.

Nina is survived by her children: Judith (John) McCluskey of Pasco, WA; and Jim New (Sheila Potter) of Valparaiso, NE; two step-sons: Danny (Cathy) Johnson of Auburn, NE; Denny (Melinda) Johnson of Albion, NE; 9 grandchildren: Morgan New of Columbus, NE; Brittany Ellenwood of Columbus, NE; Eric (Katie) Johnson of Albion, NE; Chelsea Johnson Auburn, NE; Tyler (Julia) Johnson of Lincoln, NE: Courtney Johnson (fiancée Russel Tanner) of Brownville, NE; Alexa (Kolton) Knievel of Neligh, NE; Blayr Johnson (fiancée Rodger Haselhorst) of Randolph, NE, Cabre Johnson of Albion, NE; many great-grandchildren; brother Dean (Becky) Scarlett of Perry, IA; special neighbors Tristan, Braxton, Kaylee and Cruz who Nina loved dearly; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents Bob and Opal Scarlett, biological parents Gerald and Alta Mason, and aunt Iva Mason.
