Michael "Mike" A. Johnson

Michael "Mike" A. Johnson, 59, of St. Edward, NE passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at CHI Health Immanuel Hospital, Omaha, NE.  Mike was a tissue donor through Live On Nebraska.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at United Methodist Church, St. Edward, NE with Rev. Vernon Olson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward, NE at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Michael "Mike" Alan Johnson, son of Robert and Hilda (Steinbach) Johnson was born on January 23, 1960 in Fullerton, NE.  He attended school at St. Edward Public School and graduated in 1978.  Michael then attended Hastings College and graduated with a Culinary Degree.

On July 23, 1984 Michael was united in marriage to Susan Kay Farley at the Methodist Church in St. Edward.  The couple lived in Omaha for 10 years where Mike worked at the Courtyard Café.  They moved to St. Edward where they made their home.  Mike worked at Sapp Brothers and The New World Inn in Columbus.  He was currently employed at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion as a cook.

Mike was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Edward where he has served on the church council for over 10 years.  Mike was also the Boy Scout leader, and was always willing to help out in the St. Edward Community. He especially enjoyed helping with Santa Claus Day and was Santa's main helper.

Mike enjoyed reading, gardening, being outdoors, and hunting.  His favorite pasttime was watching football and spending time with his two grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his wife Sue of St. Edward, NE; son Chris Johnson of St. Edward, NE; daughter Sammi (Levi) Meysenburg of Spalding, NE; two grandchildren Zoey Johnson and JW Meysenburg; his mother Hilda Johnson of St. Edward, NE; five brothers and a sister: Jerry (Cindy) Johnson of Lincoln, NE; Jackie (Terry) Hinds of Columbus, NE; Dave (Beth) Johnson of Hastings, NE; Steve Johnson of Genoa, NE; Don (Alice) Johnson of Ft. Calhoun, NE; Jeff (Gaylene) Johnson of Columbus, NE; several brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert, and brother Robbie.
