Maxine L. Thome, 99 of Spalding NE, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. wake service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church or Spalding Academy. A video of the funeral will be posted on this website following services.

Maxine Laura Thome was born on June 8, 1922 near Ericson, NE to Louis and Laura (Taddiken) Rosso. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Bartlett, NE. She attended elementary school at District 26 in rural Wheeler County and graduated High School with normal training in 1940 at Wheeler County High School. She taught at a rural Wheeler County school for two years before moving to Omaha where she worked for the Swift Company.
On December 13, 1944, Maxine married Francis R. "Frank" Thome in Lincoln, NE. They began their marriage on the family farm in the Bonanza Precinct of Boone County near Akron, NE where they raised their family. Maxine was confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. Michael's Church in Spalding. She was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, Boone County Extension Club, and the Leisure Hour Club.
Maxine enjoyed bowling, playing cards, babysitting little ones, dancing, watching sports, spending time at Kealy's, and good comradery with lots of friends, young and old.
Maxine is survived by four sons: Dennis (Julie) Thome of Omaha, NE; Bob (Charlene) Thome of Omaha, NE; Bill (Maureen) Thome of Spalding, NE, Dave (Shannon) Thome of Spalding, NE; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; one sister-in-law Marguerite Rosso of Scottsbluff, NE; along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank; daughter Dianne McDuffee; grandson Shane Thome; granddaughter Amy Collins; and seven siblings: Everett, Erv, Milt, Mae, Geraldine, Irene, and Nadine.
