Maxine F. Choyeski, 94, of Cedar Rapids, NE passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Cloverlodge Care Center, St. Edward, Nebraska.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in St. Edward, NE. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. wake service.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.
Maxine Faye Choyeski, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Voight) Zimmerman was born on July 3, 1929 on the farm west of St. Edward, NE. She was baptized at St. Edward Catholic Church. Maxine attended rural Platte County School District #59 and Boone County School District #59. She graduated from St. Edward High School.
On November 19, 1946 Maxine was united in marriage to Lawrence J. Choyeski at St. Edward Catholic Church. They lived near Belgrade, until 1953 when they moved to the farm north of Cedar Rapids. Maxine was a farmwife and homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and sewing, especially quilting and embroidery. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, NE, the Guys and Gals Card Club, and a dance club.
Maxine is survived by her four children: Monica Choyeski of Lincoln, NE; Marlene (Ronald) Laska of St. Edward, NE; Michael (Christine) of Belgrade, NE; Mark (Jill) of Friend, NE; 12 grand-children: John (Anna) Laska, Michelle (Corey) Anson, Kevin (Sherri) Laska, Andrew (Katie) Laska, Christina (Evan) Canning, Luke (Kara) Choyeski, Calen (Travis) Wood and Elle Delaney, Carissa and Corinne Choyeski, Charles Bialas and Cheryl Gilsdorf; 29 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence; son Lawrence Jr.; daughter Mary Ann Bialas; infant brother Donald Zimmerman; sisters Margaret (Raymond) Choyeski; Mildred (George) Tourtillott, and Marie (Elmer) Tieman.
