Mary Ellen Norskov, 80, of Albion, NE passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Carolann Hopcke officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ellen Norskov, daughter of Arnold Leonard and Ellen Christine (Petersen) Norskov, was born on June 26, 1941, on the family farm 8 miles west of Albion, NE.  She was baptized on December 21, 1941 at the Lutheran Church in Dannebrog, NE, and confirmed on April 3, 1955 at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, NE.  Mary Ellen attended school at Boone County District 24 at Dennison and graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1960.

Mary Ellen lived her whole life in Albion, NE.  When she was younger she helped take care of her grandmother, along with providing childcare for people in the community.  She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, where she was very active in the church choir and handbell choir.  She also helped with Sunday School and did a substantial amount of volunteer work at church, making sure everything was tended to and unlocking and locking the church daily. She received the Sunshine Award from 10/11 News, and the Certificate of Appreciation from Zion Lutheran Church in 1994 and 2005.  In 2015 Mary Ellen moved to the Good Samaritan Assisted Living, and in 2020 to the Good Samaritan Society in Albion, NE.

Mary Ellen is survived by her four siblings: Cheryl (Terry) Twiestmeyer of Grand Island, NE; Julie (Jack) Adkins of Eugene, OR; Tom Norskov of Grand Island, NE: and Alida (Gary) Lamb of Centennial, CO; one niece and three nephews: Lisa (Shane) Stava and  Clark (April) Twiestmeyer all of Grand Island, NE; Jason (Neva) Lamb of Commerce City, CO; Nathan (Dinah) Lamb of Sterling, VA; eight great-nieces and nephews: Olivia and Graham Stava; Ava Twiestmeyer; Christian, Brayden, and Micah Lamb; Aiden and Eian Lamb; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Ellen Norskov.
