Mary Jane Boes, 86, of Elgin, NE passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024, at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Steven Boes, Rev. John Norman, and Deacon Dennis Wiehn officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the church with a 7:00 p.m. wake service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are welcomed to Pope John Central Catholic and St. Boniface Parish in Elgin, NE.
Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Jane (Nepple) Boes, daughter of Edward and Sophia (Sturm) Nepple was born on January 17, 1938, in Templeton, IA, where she was raised. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated in 1956 from Sacred Heart High School in Templeton, IA. After graduation, she worked at Templeton Savings Bank.
Mary Jane married Eugene Boes on September 14, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton, IA. Following their marriage, she worked at First National Bank in Glidden, IA. They were blessed with six children: Father Steven Boes of Omaha, NE; Jeffrey (Ann) Boes of Carroll, IA; Dr. David Boes of Great Falls, MT; Dr. Brian (Kathy) Boes of Carroll, IA; Dr. Chris (Carrie) Boes of Rochester, MN; and a daughter Lisa (Kevin) Schumacher of Petersburg, NE. The family moved to Elgin in 1970. They celebrated a milestone anniversary of 62 years in 2020.
Mary Jane was a member of St. Boniface Parish and St. Boniface Altar Society. She handled the liturgical schedule for the parish and was the coordinator of the parish prayer line. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their school and sport events, reading, baking, playing cards, and traveling.
Mary is survived by her children; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers: Vern (Rosemarie) Nepple of The Villages, FL; Larry (Cindy) Nepple of The Villages, FL; Ron (Kathy) Nepple of Clinton, MO; Ray (Marlene) Nepple of Iowa City, IA; Jerome (Diane) Nepple of Carroll, IA; sister: Elaine (LeRoy) Irlbeck of Manning, IA; sister-in-law: Judy Nepple of Des Moines, IA; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Sophia Nepple; husband: Gene Boes in 2020; brother: Lee Nepple; sister-in-law: Kathy Nepple.
