Marvin Leroy Primus born on January 27, 1947, in Ewing, Nebraska, the son of Fay and Edith (Shipley) Primus. He graduated from Loup County High School in Taylor in 1965 and went on to attend the Nebraska Vocational and Technical School in Milford, graduating in 1968. He returned to the classroom later in life and earned a certificate in Computers from Central Community College in Columbus in 2002.
On November 19, 1976, Marvin married Linda Woeppel at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Marvin spent his career behind the wheel of trucks and other equipment, driving for Batenhorst Gravel in Cedar Rapids and Lightner Lumber Co. in St. Edward. He ultimately spent over 20 years delivering concrete for Gering Concrete & Construction out of Humphrey and Columbus. He also served his neighbors by sitting on the Cedar Rapids Village Board for four years and by delivering food commodities to the elderly in town each month.
Music was a constant in Marvin's life, as evidenced by his large collection of vinyl, cd's, and tapes. He played bass guitar (a talent he passed to his sons) and sang with his brothers in the band "The Kountry Kids" and also filled in for several bands throughout Nebraska.
His favorite thing of all was spending time outdoors. He loved fishing, boating, and camping with family, and especially in retirement finding new corners of Nebraska to explore. When he wasn't at the lake, Marvin enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop creating things. He was also an avid bowler, participating in various leagues in Spalding and Albion and later on in friendly competition with his family.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Linda Primus; and his two sons, Melvin (Dawn) Primus of Lincoln and Martin (Laura) Primus of Bennington and grandchildren Karis, Blake, and Reed, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Edith; his brothers, Don, Duane, and Lyle Primus; and his sisters, Arlene Kee and Thelma Frink.
