Marlene "Molly" L. Prothman

Marlene "Molly" L. Prothman, 82, of St. Edward, NE, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Heritage of Bel Air, Norfolk, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE with Fr. Bill L'Heureux officiating. Interment will follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery, St. Edward, NE. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at church with a 7:00 Prayer Service.

Miller-Levander Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Marlene "Molly" Lavonne Prothman daughter of Ralph and Isabel (Greig) Brown was born on January 16, 1937 on the family farm near St. Edward, Nebraska. She attended school at a country school and then St. Edward High School. Following her schooling she worked for the Wolf family in Albion cleaning their house.

On October 30, 1954 Molly was united in marriage to Edward Prothman at the St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of St. Edward where Molly helped on the farm and raised their children. She milked cows, raised chickens, sewed her family's clothes and had two large gardens. She cooked huge meals for her family and made sure that all of her children took swimming lessons.

She is survived by 10 children: Mike (Joyce) Prothman of Petersburg, NE; Ken (Vicki) Prothman of Atkinson, NE; Jim (Ruby) Prothman of West Point, NE; Tim (Cheryl) Prothman of David City, NE; Carolyn (Phil) Wirges of Holyoke, CO; Tony (Bev) Prothman of Columbus, NE; Pat (Barb) Prothman of Garland, NE; Anita (Gerry) Camp of Cedar Rapids, NE; Peggy (Bruce) Price of Norfolk, NE; Tracy (Christy) Prothman of St. Edward, NE; 38 grandchildren and 23 spouses; 47 great-grandchildren; sisters: Marion Finlayson and Janice Bailey both of Phoenix, AZ; Carol (Paul) Fitzner of Oregon; brothers Tom Brown of Costa Rica; Joe (Linda) Brown of Bullhead City, NV; brother-in-law Ray (Clarene) Prothman of Albion, NE; sister-in-law Mildred Preister of Lindsay, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Molly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, children: Tammi, Jeanie, and Dennis; sister Billy Kunzman, brothers-in-law Tony Kunzman, Tom Finlayson and Oren Bailey; along with numerous in-laws on Ed's side of the family.
