Mark Alan Ehlers

Mark A. Ehlers, 67, of St. Edward, NE passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Boone County Health Center, Albion, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edward, NE with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz and Deacon Harlan Long officiating. Interment will follow at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church with a 7 p.m. wake service.

Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Mark Alan Ehlers, son of Floyd and Delva Grace (Waldschmidt) Ehlers was born January 16, 1956, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, NE. He attended Albion Public School and graduated with the class of 1974. Following graduation he attended Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, NE.

On October 27, 1979, Mark was united in marriage to Rhonda Modelski at St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edward, NE. From this union Mark was blessed with two children: Chase and Whitney. Mark often joked that not only did he and his wife Rhonda have the same birthday, but they also had the same wedding anniversary!

Mark worked a wide range of jobs. He worked at Lindsay Manufacturing, ran Bottle Barn liquor store and Bottle Barn convenience store. He also worked at Menards and for Werner's Trucking and Service along with Bomgaars and helping run the Frosty.

Mark was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church and had previously served on the parish council. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed music and was a major history buff. Mark liked to watch baseball and boxing. Most importantly Mark was a family man. Nothing gave him more joy than his children and grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his wife: Rhonda Ehlers of St. Edward, NE; two children: Chase (Corinne) Ehlers of Papillion, NE; Whitney (Eric) Smith of St. Edward, NE; four grandchildren: Ava, Riptyn, and Ashton Smith; Charlotte Ehlers; mother-in-law: Kathleen Modelski of St. Edward, NE; sister-in-law: Sheryl Rosno of Albion, NE; along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Tom Ehlers; father-in-law: Stanley Modelski.
