Louis Heithoff, 89 of Elgin, NE passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Boniface Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Mark McKercher and Deacon Dennis Wiehn officiating. Burial will follow at West Cedar Valley Cemetery, Elgin, NE, with Military Rites conducted by American Legion Post #229 of Elgin, NE, and the Air Force Funeral Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 p.m. at St. Boniface Church with no family present. There will be a Wake Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Social distancing and Covid-19 DHM's effective June 1, 2020 will be followed at both the visitation and funeral.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Louis Henry Heithoff, son of Albert Gerheart and Eleanor Marie (Kroeger) Heithoff, was born August 22, 1930 in rural Antelope County. He attended school and graduated from St. Boniface School in 1948. He entered the United States Air Force on November 6, 1951 and served in Florida and West Germany before being honorably discharged on October 21,1955.

On October 21, 1957, Louis married Delores Darlene Hawks. They made their home northwest of Elgin where they have lived their entire married life and were blessed with eight children. Louis farmed and also worked various construction jobs, retiring in 1999.

Louis was a lifetime member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE. Louis played baseball and loved to play golf. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was a Nebraska Football and Royals baseball fan. Louis enjoyed farming, gardening, and his house had lots of Christmas lights all year long!

Louis is survived by his wife Darlene of Elgin, NE; 8 children: Steve (Rita) of Elgin, NE; Deb (Ron) Rice, Terry (Rhonda) all of Neligh, NE; Diane Charles of Norfolk, NE; Denise Schmoldt of Allen, TX; Calvin (Pam), Stan (Dorothy), Todd (Melissa) all of Elgin, NE; 18 grandchildren: Michael Heithoff of Norfolk, NE: Crystal (Dan) Borer, Eric (Emily) Heithoff all of Elgin, NE; Alex (Leah) Heithoff of Lincoln, NE; Blake Heithoff of West Point, NE: Alexander Charles of Norfolk, NE; Andrew Heithoff, Nick, Kyle, and Liam Heithoff, Jessica (Austin) Mitchell all of Elgin, NE: Kristen Rice of Lincoln, NE; Shelby Rice of Omaha, NE; Cade and Callie Heithoff of Elgin; Aaron and Austin Rice of Neligh, NE; Hallie Schmoldt of Denver, CO; four great-grandchildren: Brooke and Parker Borer; Brian and Robin Heithoff all of Elgin, NE; two sisters: Lorene (John) Stuhr of Elgin, NE; Audrey Miller of Omaha, NE; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren: Shawn and Troy Charles, and Connor Schmoldt; brother Donald Heithoff; sisters Amelita Tunik, Yvonne Heithoff, and his twin Eunice Goetzinger.
