Lois A. Gates, 94, of Albion, NE, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Neligh Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neligh, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2019, at United Methodist Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Lois Angeline Gates, the youngest daughter of Clarence and Selma (Borg) Matson, was born on November 27, 1924 at Newman Grove, NE. She attended country school at District 63 and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1942. After her graduation, Lois moved to Washington where she worked as an office transcriber.
On November 6, 1943, Lois was united in marriage to Albert Wayne Gates in Seattle, WA. Following their wedding, the couple continued living in Washington before moving to Colorado, St. Edward, NE, and settling on a farm east of Albion, NE. In 1970, the couple moved into Albion. Lois helped her husband around the farm and later worked as office assistant at J.C. Penney's store in Albion.
Lois was known as great cook, enjoyed embroidery and sewing, puzzlebooks, and spending time with her husband and family on many fishing trips. She was an 80 year member of the United Methodist Church.
Lois is survived by two daughters: Karen (Keith) Rankin of Albion, NE; Deb (Dan) Nekolite of O'Neill, NE; son-in-law: Jerry Reiman of West Point, NE; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; daughter: Janet Reiman; three brothers and two sisters.
