Linda C. Formanek

Linda C Formanek, 73, of Lindsay, NE passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Columbus Community Hospital, Columbus NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday February 4, 2022, at Holy Family Church in Lindsay, NE. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Lindsay, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service to follow.

Memorials are suggested to the Right to Life or to the family for later designation.

Linda Catherine Formanek was born to Theodore and Isabel (Heiman) Fehringer on April 21, 1948, at Norfolk, NE. Linda spent most of her childhood living on the family farm in Lindsay. She attended school at Lindsay Holy Family graduating from high school in 1966.

After graduation Linda moved to Wisconsin and attended the Career Academy of Medical Assistants in Milwaukee. She graduated with her Certified Medical Assistants license in February of 1967. After graduation, Linda moved to Omaha, NE where she worked in a medical clinic for a year.

Linda was united in marriage to Larry Formanek on August 9, 1969, at Lindsay Holy Family Church in Lindsay, NE and made their home together just outside of Lindsay. From this union the couple was blessed with four children. Laura Lynn, Louis Lawrence, Leigh James, and LaVonne Catherine. Linda spent the first years of their marriage at home running the household and helping to raise the children. She returned to work at the US Postal Office in Lindsay as a relief Postmaster. She went back to nursing in the early 90s and spent over 20 years working at the Newman Grove Medical Clinic in Newman Grove as a CMA. She also served on the Newman Grove Clinic board for many years. She retired in 2012.

When Linda wasn't working or spending time with her family, she was involved with various organizations. She was a devout Catholic and an active member in Holy Family Parish. She served as both an EME and a Lector and a member of the Holy Family Guild. She was also the president of the Pro-Life Local Chapter and an advocate for the Right to Life. After retirement Linda volunteered at Boone County Hospital.

Linda had a fierce love for family and friends. She enjoyed spending her time reading and gardening. Other hobbies were camping, fishing, and playing cards. Linda also had a love for travel, good food, and fine wine.

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry of Lindsay, NE; children: Laura (Marty) Boyce of Murfreesburo, TN; Leigh (Daiva) Formanek of Cary, NC; LaVonne (Dennis) Guthard of Waverly, NE; six grandchildren: Nathan and Austin Pfeifer, Hailee and Hayden Guthard, Connor and Mason Formanek; siblings: Fred (Verleen) Fehringer of Newman Grove, NE; Jim (Korene) Fehringer of Columbus, NE; Carol (Lyle) Beckman of Kansas City, KS; Mary Kerres of St. Paul, MN; Joe (Bobbie) Fehringer of Columbus, NE; Kathy (Dan) Gilsdorf of Columbus, NE; Tom (Julie) Fehringer of Lindsay, NE; Steve (D'Ann) Fehringer of Broken Arrow, OK; sisters-in-law: Lois (George) Dohmen of Columbus, NE; Shirley (Dave) Jarecki of Lindsay, NE; brother-in-law: Jim (Theresa) Formanek of Lindsay, NE; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Linda was preceded in death by their son- Louis Lawrence; her parents - Ted and Isabel; brother Richard and sister Trudy Fehringer.
