Leo J. Mueller

Leo Jerome Mueller, the son of Frank and Mary (Welch) Mueller was born May 16, 1925 on a farm northeast of Albion. He received his elementary education at Boone County School District #7 and attended Albion High School.

Leo entered the United States Army on May 8, 1945 and served in the Asiatic Pacific. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge on the 19th of December, 1946, Leo returned to Albion.

On June 2, 1949 Leo was united in marriage to Lois M. Rojohn at Albion. They lived two years on a farm north of Albion, then eleven years in the Plumbcreek area southwest of Albion. In 1964 they moved to a farm northeast of Albion where they have since farmed and raised their family.

Leo served on rural school boards and worked several years as a yard man at the Albion Livestock Market. He was a member of the Loretto United Methodist Church, a member and past commander of the County as well as American Legion Post #162 of Albion.

Leo J. Mueller, 85 of Albion, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Boone County Health Center.

Surviving Leo is his wife Lois; Children: Jerome Mueller & wife Linda; Kathy Eickhoff & husband Dean, all of Albion; Nancy Burbach of Newman Grove; 5 grandchildren: Shelley Lueken & husband Dan, Nathan Mueller, Suzanne Riley, Jeff Eickhoff & wife Erin, and Andy Eickhoff; one sister Ruth Quinn and husband Wayne of Omaha; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Mary Lou and Iver Nore of Albion; 3 great grandchildren: Lauren Lueken, Katie Jo Lueken, Evan Eickhoff, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister Eileen Claire.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Albion, NE, Rev. K.F. Kaleuati officiating with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #162 & V.F.W. Post #736. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
