Laurie Zavodsky

Laurie Zavodsky, 64 of Petersburg, NE passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2024, at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE with Deacon John Starman officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home

Laurie Ann Zavodsky was born on July 20, 1959, in Harlan, IA to her parents Joseph P. and Maryann E. (Tunink) Kloewer. She lived in Defiance, IA until 1962 when a new job for Joe took the family to Fremont NE.

Laurie loved to swim and spent countless hours at Memorial Pool with her friends. They even arrived at the pool before they opened so the lifeguards could practice their life saving skills.

Laurie worked at Burger King part time and graduated from Archbishop Bergan High School in 1977. She then enrolled in the art program at Northeast Nebraska Technical College in Norfolk, NE, also the art program at Midland College in Fremont, NE and School of Art & Design in Omaha, NE.

Laurie had the opportunity to live in many places including: San Diego, CA; Groton, CT; Charleston, SC; Clarksville, TN; Columbus, NE; and finally in rural Petersburg, NE. Laurie worked at the Knotty Pine in Petersburg and was known as "The Pie Lady". Laurie's friends looked forward to her annual calendar which she produced every year with a different theme like Faith, Laughter, Friendship etc. Laurie had mastered the art of calligraphy, she designed hundreds of wedding invitations and addressed thousands of envelopes. Laurie believed in marriage but decided later in life that it just wasn't for her.

Laurie is survived by her brother: Steve (Kim) of Lucas, IA; four aunts; special cousin: Rick Zegers; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
