Kenneth F. Miller, 99, of Spalding, NE, died Thursday, January 25, 2024, surrounded by his family after extended illnesses.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2024, at St. Michael's Church in Spalding, NE with Fr. Neal Nollette and Deacon Ron Glaser officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Spalding, NE. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 6:00 p.m. wake service.
Levander Funeral Home of Spalding, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Floyd Miller was born on a farm northeast of Spalding, NE on June 10, 1924, to Roy and Marie (Marisch) Miller. He attended grade school at rural District 20 in Wheeler County and graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1942. After teaching in a rural school for a short time, he continued farming and ranching.
Kenneth was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding in 1955. He was united in marriage to Rosella Theresa Kaiser on June 2, 1955 by Rev. James P. Fullam at St. Michael's Catholic Church. The couple made their home on the family farm four miles north of Spalding for the past 68 years.
Kenneth was active in St. Michael's Parish Men's Club, was a board member of the Spalding Co-Op Elevator (Country Partners) for 12 years, nine of which he served as chairman. He also served on the Spalding Academy School Board and St. Michael's Parish Council. In addition to farming, Kenneth also sold insurance and Pioneer Seed for 20 years. He enjoyed driving John Deere tractors, working the ground, and raising livestock. Kenneth also enjoyed watching his 12 grandchildren in all their sports, following the Nebraska Huskers, traveling, drinking a cold Pepsi, eating chocolate ice cream, and having coffee with his friends.
Kenneth is survived by his wife: Rosella Miller of Spalding, NE; four children: Kathy (Don) Salber of Albion, NE; Dan (Cindy) Miller of Spalding, NE; Gary (Dora) Miller of Spalding, NE; Sharyn (Greg) Dozler of Albion, NE; 12 grandchildren: Brad (Jenna) Salber; Kim (Tyler) Piening; Dr. Hilary (David Carraher) Miller; Tiffany (Dave) Byrkit; Makenzie (fiancé Gavin Graff) Miller; Adam (Sandy) Miller; Ashley (Spencer) Burk; Andrew Miller; Kyrie Diessner; Kassy (Justin) Grant; Kaitlyn Dozler; Alyssa (Landon) Eastman; 15 great-grandchildren: Avery Piening; Brooke Carraher; Blake and Everleigh Byrkit; Parker, Audrey, and Sydney Miller; Jared, Danica, and Hailey Burk; Cora and Bennett Miller; Kahleya Trofholz; Austin Grant; Skyler Eastman; sister: Opal Maben of Lee's Summit, MO; brother-in-law: Dale Sheldon of Burwell, NE; two sisters-in-law: Betty Esch and Claire Kaiser both of Spalding, NE; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Orville (Betty) Miller; two sisters: Kathleen Sheldon and Eileen (Paul) Butler; three brothers-in-law: Bill Maben; Richard "Dick" Esch; Louis Kaiser; and sister-in-law: Esther Kaiser.
