Keith M. Jacobson, 94, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at Mid Nebraska Lutheran Home, Newman Grove, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE with Pastor Claire Meyer officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE, with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.

Keith Merlin Jacobson, son of Melvin A. and Myrtle (Samuelson) Jacobson was born on October 20, 1930 in rural Newman Grove, NE. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. Keith attended Madison County District 58 until 8th, then graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1949.
Keith had an adventurous spirit and wanted to see the world so after the Korean War broke out he decided to join the Navy in 1951. He completed boot camp at San Diego, CA and Class "A" Yeoman School. He was assigned to the US Iowa and Later the USS Gurkee patrolling Korean waters. He was released from active duty in 1955 and pursued some school work. Keith decided to return to military service and joined the Army in 1958. He attended Signal School and became a Teletype Operator serving at Ft. Lewis and Korea. Keith had an interest in journalism and re-enlisted for Army Information School at Ft. Slocum, New York. He served posts in the US, Korea, and Vietnam at the Da Nang Press Center. Keith was the recipient of the following awards: Good Conduct Medal 4th Award, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. The rest of Keiths service time was spent at Fort Riley.
In 1975 Keith returned home to Newman Grove where he drove school bus for 11 years for Newman Grove Public School. He was also a member of the Newman Grove Legion Post #73 and receiver his 50 year membership pin. He was a Big Red fan and supported Newman Grove School sports.
Keith is survived by his sister Ruth (Merle) Stone of Newman Grove, NE; nieces and nephews: Debby and Doug Linse of Tilden, NE: Peggy and Dan Schroeter of Albion, NE; Kurt and Linda Stone of Lindsay, NE; Beth and Cory Nelson of Newman Grove, NE; 10 grand nieces, 2 grand nephews, along with great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Jacobson, nephew DeLayne Stone, and grand niece Alyshia Samuelson.
