Kay E. Robinson, 87, of Albion, NE passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2024, at United Methodist Church, Albion, NE with Pastor Lynde Linde officiating. Burial with P.E.O. rites conducted by P.E.O. Chapter DJ of Albion will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Levander Funeral Home, 1555 S. 6th Street, Albion, NE.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Kay Ellen (Doering) Robinson, daughter of William and Mildred (Case) Doering, was born on November 3, 1936 in New Ulm, MN. She was confirmed in 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Albion, NE. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1955. She then attended and graduated in 1959 from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

On June 14, 1959, Kay married her high school sweetheart, Bilse James Robinson II at the United Methodist Church, Scottsbluff, NE. Once Kay and Bilse earned their degrees the two started their teaching careers in David City, NE, where for the next five years Kay taught Business and English classes. When their eldest daughter was born the family moved back to Albion. Kay continued to work as a substitute teacher and stayed at home to care for her soon to be growing family.

Kay was very active as a community volunteer, led and participated in numerous social functions. She was a 58-year member of P.E.O. Chapter DJ where she was past president, chairwoman on numerous business committees, and was recognized as a Golden Gal. Kay was also instrumental in the P.E.O. Scholars and Cottey College Scholarship programs. Other memberships and clubs that Kay was a part of included: a member of United Methodist Church since 1965; United Methodist Women; Albion Women's Club; fundraising committee for the Albion Track & Field Complex; Book Club; Bridge Club; Girl Scout leader; Albion High School Booster Club; Albion Area Arts Council; Ducks Unlimited; Albion Education Association; Sunday School teacher; Bible School teacher; Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority; Pep Club sponsor; and volunteered with the March of Dimes and Boone County Food Pantry. Kay was an avid knitter, a big Nebraska Cornhusker fan, regularly hosted coaches and faculty get togethers, and loved to dance with her high school sweetheart, Bilse. Above all else, she was a dedicated wife and mother.

Kay is survived by: four daughters: Sue Cole of Albion, NE; Jody (Mike) Matthews of Nixa, MO; Jean Barrick of Castle Pines, CO; Donna (Rob) Miller of Petersburg, NE; 7 grandchildren: Shannon; Neva; Allyson; Hayden; Katie; Robbie; Lacie; two sisters: Donna Lewis of Great Falls, MT; Janet Johnson of Scottsbluff, NE; brother: Robert "Bob" (Lynn) Doering of Scottsbluff, NE; brother-in-law: Rob (Pam) Robinson of Albion, NE; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bilse; aunt: Ruth Case; and two brothers-in-law: Milton Johnson and Jack Lewis.
