Kathleen M. Sheldon

Kathleen M. Sheldon, 90, of Albion, NE, formerly of rural Spalding, NE, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society, Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Bartlett, NE with Rev. Kurt Kinney officiating. Interment will be at Pibel Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Ericson, NE. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Sunday, at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Kathleen Marie (Miller) Sheldon, daughter of Roy Floyd and Marie Johanna (Marisch) Miller was born March 4, 1929 in Wheeler County, rural Spalding, NE. Kathleen attended grade school at Wheeler County District #20 and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1946. She then attended Wayne State College and received her teaching certificate. Kathleen taught for five years at Wheeler County Districts #31 for one year, #20 for three years, and #25 for one year.

On August 16, 1950 Kathleen was united in marriage to Dale Clarence Sheldon at the First Presbyterian Church in Spalding, NE. The couple lived on a farm, rural Spalding, in Wheeler County. In addition to Kathleen being a housewife, she was the Civil Defense Director of Wheeler County from 1981-2001.

Kathleen was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bartlett, NE. She was very active with the UMW and served all offices. She also taught Sunday School and was a 4-H leader. Kathleen was a member of the Historical Society of Wheeler County and was one of the founders, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #0107, and the Le-Zu- Re Hour Club.   Her and Dale enjoyed dancing, especially square-dancing, and playing cards with their friends. They also enjoyed many bus tours together. Kathleen was a beautiful seamstress and sewed many articles of clothing, including her own square dance dresses.

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dale of Albion, NE; two children: Vicky (Ken) Childers of Lincoln, NE; Randy (Laura) Sheldon of Spalding, NE; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Scott (Julie) Childers of Lincoln, NE: Crystal (Andy) Booker of Lincoln, NE; Bambi (Daren) Reynolds, Dawson and Bryson of Lincoln, NE; Jason (Lacey) Sheldon, Lane and Alice of Plymouth, NE: LeAnn (Caleb) Kenner, Addison and Riggen of Kenton, OK; Tina (Matt) Kennedy and Hadley of McCook, NE; brothers Orville Miller of Gretna, NE: Kenneth (Rosella) Miller of Spalding, NE; sister Opal Maben of Lee Summit, MO; brother-in-law Paul Butler of Imperial Beach, CA; sister-in-law Ellamae Demaray of Milford, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Marie Miller, parents-in-law: Clarence and Lorraine Sheldon; sister Eileen Butler; sister-in-law Betty Miller; brothers-in-law: Ron Demaray and William Maben.
