Kathleen Ann Modelski

Kathleen A. Modelski, 82, of St. Edward, NE, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at her home in St. Edward, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at St. Edward Catholic Church in St. Edward, NE with Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz and Deacon Harlan Long officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. wake service.

Kathleen Ann Modelski, daughter of Randolph T. and Frances (Kamin) Sawyer was born on August 10, 1941, in St. Edward, NE. She received the sacrament of baptism and later confirmed at St. Edward Catholic Church. Kathleen attended St. Edward public schools and graduated with the class of 1958.

On September 26, 1959, Kathleen married the love of her life, Stanley Modelski at St. Edward Catholic Church. From this union, Kathleen was blessed with two daughters. The couple lived in St. Edward for a few months before moving to a farm near Fullerton, NE. They later moved back to St. Edward, NE where Kathleen has lived since. Kathleen was a bookkeeper at the Co-op Elevator for 45 years.

Kathleen was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Margaret-Mary Altar Society, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister. She prayed the rosary daily, found peace attending church, and loved teaching her children and grandchildren about the Lord. She enjoyed going for walks and reading.

Kathleen is survived by her two daughters: Rhonda Ehlers of St. Edward, NE; Sheryl Rosno of Albion, NE; grandchildren: Chase (Corinne) Ehlers of Papillion, NE; Whitney (Eric) Smith of St. Edward, NE; Natalie (Frank) Finkral of Norfolk, NE; Alicia (Brandon Beam) Rosno of Lincoln, NE; six great-grandchildren: Charlotte Ehlers; Ava, Riptyn, and Ashton Smith; Kaysen and Kyler Finkral; sister: Diana Schroeder of Madison, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanley Modelski in 2018; son-in-law: Mark Ehlers; brothers: Jack and Duane Sawyer; along with many other family members.
