Karen L. Stewart, 77, of Albion, NE, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019, at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE.
Karen's remains were cremated with a burial of ashes to be held Saturday, April 25, 2020 graveside at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. There is a video of the service posted at the bottom of the obituary. Memorial contributions may be directed to Boone County Health Center.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Karen, daughter of Gerald and Lucille (Lundgren) Mills, was born August 1, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Detroit and attended Michigan State University and worked at Michigan National Bank in Detroit.
Karen married Paul Breon in 1964 and had two children, Scott and Kathy (Kate). The family moved to Albion in 1970. Paul and Karen later divorced. In 1990 Karen and Keith Stewart were married in Albion. Karen worked at Albion National Bank from 1979-2002, when she retired as vice president.
Karen's favorite interest was volunteer work. She was chairman of the Harmony Home Board for 12 years; the Boone County Health Center Board for 9 years; the Albion Country Club Board; volunteered at the Mission Store in Albion; Meals on Wheels; and had been on St. Michael's finance committee. Karen enjoyed golf, traveling, gardening, cooking, bridge, and spending time with family.
Karen is survived by her husband, Keith Stewart; son, Scott Breon of Cozad; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (Kate) and John Mueller of Lincoln; two step-sons, Bruce and Brian Stewart, of York; four grandchildren, Kylee and Dillon Mueller, Luke and Nathan Breon; sister, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Tom Richmond of Loveland, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
