Judy J. Choat

Judy J. Choat, 82, of Albion, NE, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Grand Island Regional Medical Center in Grand Island, NE.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE with Rev. Ruth Boettcher officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Judith “Judy” Joy Choat, daughter of Cecil and Marguerite (Anderson) Roberts, was born on November 13, 1943, at Albion, NE and attended Albion Public School. Judy was united in marriage to Alan Clarence Choat at Zion Lutheran Church on October 2, 1960. They were blessed with three children: Scott, Steven, and Cynthia. Following their wedding, the couple made their home in Albion for a year before moving onto the farm near St. Edward, NE. They moved back into Albion in 1971.

Judy was a member of the UCC-Congregational Church in Albion. She enjoyed shopping, reading, raising tomato plants and flowers, as well as collecting ceramics and figurines. She loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her daughter: Cynthia Johnson of Grand Island, NE; two grandsons: Kyle (Amber) Majerus of St. Edward, NE; Tyler Majerus of Grand Island, NE; one granddaughter: Lacy Majerus of Grand Island, NE; three great-grandchildren: Cory Jochem; Cole Jochem; Makyleigh Majerus; brother: Cecil “Butch” (Sherri) Roberts Jr. of David City, NE; two sisters-in-law: Mildred Choat of Albion, NE; Ardy Choat of St. Edward, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Cecil and Marguerite Roberts; husband: Alan Choat; two sons: Scott Choat; Steven Choat; son-in-law: Verl Johnson; two grandsons: Cody and Zachary Majerus; sister: Karen Bumgardner; niece: Sheryl Machacek; and three brothers-in-law: Gary (Shirley) Choat; Lynn Choat; and Duane Choat.
