Judy J. Arends, 83, of Grand Island, NE passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Brookefield Park, St. Paul, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE with Fr. Frank Baumert officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Petersburg, NE.
Levander Funeral Home of Elgin, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Judy Jo Arends, daughter of Lawrence Ray and Helen May (Townsend) Geddes was born July 6, 1941, at Grand Island, NE. She received her education in Grand Island, attended Grand Island Senior High School, graduating with the class of 1959.
On October 16, 1965, Judy married Conrad J. Arends at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island, NE. The couple made their home in Grand Island where they raised their children. Judy worked as an Assistant Cashier at Union Bank & Trust Co.
Judy was a member of Business Professional Women (BPW) and United Commercial Travelers (UCT). In her younger years, one of Judy's favorite past-times was playing softball. While her children were growing up, she enjoyed attending their activities, even making costumes for dance recitals. In more recent years, she enjoyed sewing, traveling, reading, fishing and spending time with family at Sherman Reservoir. She was an avid Husker fan, especially Football and Volleyball.
Judy is survived by her husband of 58 years: Conrad Arends of Grand Island, NE; two children: Renee Arends of Lincoln, NE and Ryan (Susan) Arends; four grandchildren: Symone Arends (Alexander Haas) of Lincoln, NE; Shaylee Arends; Griffin and Brody Arends; sister: Jane (Robert) Allan of Wood River, NE; sisters-in-law: Joyce Bottorf of Petersburg, NE; Judy Klassen of Albion, NE; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
