Joey L. Vanmeter

Joey L. VanMeter, 60 of St. Edward, NE died Monday, June 21, 2021 at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in St. Edward, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. Edward Catholic Church with Rev. Bill L'Heureux officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward with Military Rites conducted by Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward, NE, Army Funeral Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. Wake Service.

Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward, NE is in charge of the arrangements.

Joey Lee VanMeter, son of Ronald and Mathilde "Tillie" VanMeter was born on September 12, 1960 in Albion, NE.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Edward Catholic Church.  Joey attended school and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1979.  He enlisted in the United States Army where he was a motor vehicle operator for 64 Charlie.  Following his honorable discharge in 1982, he returned to St. Edward where he was an over the road truck driver for his father's company, VM Trucking and ended his trucking career locally with Pillen Family Farms.

During his marriage to Kathleen Donnelly, from 1989-1997, Joe became a father to Joey, Jessi and Jeanie. In his spare time, you would find Joe spending time with his kids, family and friends in grandma's garage, hanging out and enjoying a few beers. He also enjoyed going 4-wheeling with his son and friends as well as occasionally cruising the countryside with his "Austin puppies".  Above all, spending time with his grandkids is what he lived for. They were his pride and joy!

Joey is survived by his three children: Joey (Krystal) Donnelly of Genoa, NE; Jessica (Odie) McKown of Albion, NE; Jeanie (Trey) Frauendorfer of Newman Grove, NE; five grandchildren: Janey, Jocelyn, Jacob, Chaysen, and Daxtyn; three brothers: Ralph (Sabine) VanMeter of Badsoden, Germany; Dennis VanMeter of Primrose, NE; Mike VanMeter of St. Edward, NE: and sister Tammy (Gary) Iburg of Belgrade, NE; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Kim VanMeter.
