James E. Hamilton, 75, of Omaha, NE passed away Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Hospice House in Omaha, NE.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the FaithWestwood United Methodist Church, 4814 Oaks Lane, Omaha, NE with Rev. Cindi Stewart officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. that day at the Boone Cemetery in, rural Albion, NE. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in place of flowers to FaithWestwood United Methodist Church, 4814 Oaks Lane, Omaha, NE 68137. Please direct them to the attention of Rich Anderson and include “James Hamilton’s Memorial” in the memo line.

James “Jim” Edward Hamilton was born on August 13, 1950 in Nebraska City, NE to Edward Harold and Mildred Elizabeth (Earl) Hamiliton. Jim attended Precious Blood Seminary in Liberty, MO, and Lourdes High School in Nebraska City, graduating from the latter in 1968. He then graduated from the Lincoln School of Commerce in 1970.
On June 11, 1983, Jim was united in marriage to Sue Lorraine Maricle at FaithWestwood United Methodist Church in Omaha, NE. The couple made their home in Omaha where Jim worked for ConAgra Foods as a Senior Systems Programmer for 31 years. He later worked at First National Bank of Omaha, retiring at the age of 70.
Jim was devoted to his family and faith. He was a long-time member of FaithWestwood United Methodist Church serving as an usher for many years. Jim and Sue also belonged to a small group at the church. During his lifetime, Jim enjoyed playing tennis, cards, and chess. He attended Husker games, the College World Series, and Broadway performances at the Orpheum Theater with his wife and children. Most important to him though, was the love he shared with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife Sue Hamilton of Omaha, NE; children: Eric Hamilton of Washington D.C.; Zachary Hamilton of Omaha, NE; Heidi (Jason) Schaaf of Parsons, KS; siblings: Sandra (Lonnie) Keene of Union, NE; Robert (Lori) Hamilton of Omaha, NE; Christopher (Ricardo) Aguirre-Hamilton of Orange Grove, TX; sisters-in-law: Nancy (Alan) Thorson of Omaha, NE; Alice (Don) Johnson of Ft. Calhoun, NE; brothers-in-law: Keith (Mary Ann) Maricle of Albion, NE; Howard (Cindy) Maricle of Erie, CO; Joe (Candace) Swarts of Lincoln, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son: Craig Hamilton; and a sister: Teresa Swarts.
