Jerald M. "Jerry" Nebel, 80 of Cedar Rapids, NE passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 9, 2020 at Valley View Assisted Living in Fullerton, NE.

Private Services will be held with burial at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, NE, with military rites. A video of the funeral mass with be posted to this webpage by Thursday evening.

Levander Funeral Home of Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Nebel was born to Leo and Kathryn Nebel in 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.  He was one of a set of triplets and the youngest of ten children. He was raised on his parents' farm west of Cedar Rapids.  Jerry attended Cedar Rapids High School where he was active in band and track.  He qualified for state track in distance running.  He graduated with the class of 1957.  After graduation, Jerry joined the Army and was stationed in Germany where he was also a member of Holy Name Society.  Upon returning from Germany, he went back to his parents' farm to work with his dad. Given his love for farming and ranching, he made them his career.

Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Jane on August 15, 1964 in Bellwood, NE. They were blessed with three children and lived on a farm west of Cedar Rapids. Traveling, visiting, and having a cup of coffee with friends were among his favorite activities. A key priority for Jerry was spending time with family and working alongside his son, Mike, on the farm. He will be remembered for his faith, strength, optimism, and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nebel; three children, Dr. Michele Anderson (Jay Anderson) of Omaha, NE, Michael Nebel (Cathy Nebel) of Cedar Rapids, NE, and Michaela Glover (Dr. Todd Glover) of Basking Ridge, NJ; seven grandchildren: Taylor Anderson, Clayton Anderson, Kate Anderson, Josie Nebel, Emma Nebel, Maya Glover and Nina Glover; Siblings Helen Vana of Omaha, NE, Florence Finken of Earling, IA, John Nebel of Ida Grove, IA, and triplet brothers Joe and Jim Nebel of Omaha, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Mary Emily Batenhorst, Veronica Feigenbutz, Dorothy Klein, and Teresa Heithoff.   Brothers-in-law Louis Batenhorst, Joe Feigenbutz, Fred Klein, Robert Vana, Harold Heithoff and Ray Finken.
