Janice A. Tisthammer

Janice A. Tisthammer, 86 of Albion, NE died on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society, Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Immanuel Zion (South Branch) Church rural Albion, NE with Pastor Elizabeth Goehring officiating. Interment will follow at the Immanuel Zion (South Branch) Cemetery, rural Albion, NE. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Janice Anna Tisthammer, daughter of Edgar Lewis and Pearl May (Noble) Justus was born on February 5, 1937, at Los Molinos, CA. Janice attended school in Wheeler County, NE; Pierce, NE; and Albion, NE. She graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1954. Following graduation Janice taught school near Petersburg, NE.

On June 24, 1956, Janice was united in marriage to John Carol Tisthammer at the United Methodist Church, Albion, NE. They made their home nine miles northeast of Albion. There they raised their three children. Janice was a great wife, mother, and homemaker. In 1991 Janice and John moved into Albion and in 2021 Janice moved to the Samaritan Estates.

Janice loved to travel. She visited every state except for Hawaii. She enjoyed singing at funerals and weddings. She also took great pride in her Norwegian family background. Janice was a member of Immanuel Lutheran (South Branch) Church. She was also a member of a music club, history club, WELCA, Friendly Neighbors Club, card club, and domino club.

Janice is survived by her three children: Curtis Tisthammer of Albion, NE; Kent (Mary Kay) Tisthammer of Albion, NE; Laurel (Mehrdad Zibanejad) Tisthammer of Kissimmee, FL; seven grandchildren: Alyssa (Chris) Elson; Jessica (James) O'Brien; Mika (Irma) Zibanejad; Jason (Rachel) Tisthammer; Andy (Lyndsay) Tisthammer; Brian (Teresa) Tisthammer; Mark (Kelli) Tisthammer; 15 great-grandchildren; brother: Aderin (Lois) Justus of Fremont, NE; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded by her parents; husband: John Tisthammer; sister: Audrey Forney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
