Janet K. Klein, 73 of Spalding, NE, passed away, Friday, June 16, 2023, at her daughter's home in South Sioux City, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2023, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE with Fr. Antony Thekkekara officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, in Spalding, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 7 p.m. wake service.

Levander Funeral Home of Spalding, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Janet Kathryn Klein, daughter of Michael E. and Josephine E. (Rollman) Knust was born on September 2, 1949, in Albion, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Church in Petersburg, NE. Janet attended school there as well, graduating with the class of 1967. Following graduation Janet enrolled in Southeast Community College and obtained her LPN in 1968. She continued to follow her passion and completed her RN at Northeast Community College in 1996.

On May 31, 1969, Janet was united in marriage to Robert M. Klein at St. John the Baptist Church in Petersburg, NE. Through this union Janet was blessed with three children: Marie, John, and Rose. The couple made their home in rural Columbus until 1975 when they moved to Spalding.

Janet was an LPN from 1968 to 1995 before becoming an RN in 1996. She worked hard, going to school, working, and raising a family all at the same time. She valued helping others, which she has instilled in her children.

Janet was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church from 1974 to present and a very active member of the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed caring for others, spoiling her grandchildren, and making quilts for her family. She loved teaching her craft to pass down to her grandchildren. Janet was very passionate the last several years about sewing pillows and stocking caps for the cancer center, as well as making Quilts of Valor for the local veterans.

Janet is survived by her husband of over 50 years Bob Klein of Spalding, NE; two daughters: Marie (Mike) O'Gara of South Sioux, NE and children Megan (Feddi Acosta), Kathleen, Joseph, and Jennifer; Rose (David) Brunsing of Norfolk, NE and children Shelby, Dalton, and Sierra; son: John (Lisa) Klein of Ft. Smith, AR and children Johnathan, Sydney, Paige, and Grace; sisters: Doris (Ken) Schrad of Elkhart, IN; Lucille Kalinowski of Columbus, NE; Lorraine Seier of Petersburg, NE; brothers: John (Donna) Knust of Petersburg, NE: Joe (Kate) Knust of Petersburg, NE; sisters-in-law: Pat Knust of Petersburg, NE; Diana Knust of Neligh, NE; Marlyss Knust of Omaha, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Mike and Josephine Knust; sisters: Alice Raemakers and Mary Ellen Frauendorfer; brothers: Bill, Paul, David, Art, and Mark Knust.
