Janet Marie Garrison, daughter of Edward and Mabel Virjan, was born on December 24, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan.  She grew up and was schooled in Monterey, Mexico, until moving to Laredo, Texas, when she turned 15. She eloped and married Lloyd Dunn in 1953 in Amarillo, Texas, where he was stationed in the Air Force. After Lloyd retired from the service they lived in Fremont, NE, where Janet became a Nurse's Aide. Janet was married to Lloyd for 25 years before divorcing. He passed away in 1998. They had three children while together: Catherine, Lloyd, and May.

On November 10, 1984 Janet married Kendall Garrison in Grand Island, NE. They met while she was working as a nurse's aide. They moved to Cedar Rapids, NE, in the early 1990's when Kendall retired. Janet worked a few years at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward before Kendall's health caused her to quit to take care of him. Janet worked as a nurse's aide in Grand Island while Kendall was in the Veteran's Home. Kendall passed away at the Grand Island Vets Home on May 4, 2003.

Later in life Janet worked for several years at the Cedar Rapids Senior Center before retiring. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Janet lived in her own home until November 2022 when her health dictated that she move into Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward. She enjoyed bantering with the workers, many whom she had previously worked with.

Janet was known to do beautiful counted cross-stitch projects including Christmas tree skirts and afghans. She made several items for the Friends of the Library to raffle in their fundraisers to help raise funds to pay to enlarge the Cedar Rapids Public Library. She was an avid reader and checked out many books over the years. Janet's claim to fame with her family were her wonderful home-made flour tortillas.

Janet is survived by her son, Lloyd (Billie) Dunn of Sedalia, MO, daughter, May (David) Palensky of Yarnell, AZ, son-in-law, Jeff Klug of Columbus, NE; 11 grandchildren who live in various states, 11 great grand-children; and her two very special friends Kim Schilousky and Margaret Shoemaker along with their families who she spent many hours with.

She was preceded in death by both husbands and her daughter, Catherine Klug.
