Jane E. Johnson, 77, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Mid Nebraska Lutheran Home, Newman Grove, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE with Pastor Claire Meyer officiating. Burial will be at St. Ansgar-Rosenborg Cemetery, rural Lindsay, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Newman Grove, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Jane Elinor Johnson, daughter of Edwin and Elva (Sorensen) Stone was born October 18, 1947, in Genoa, NE. Jane attended grade school through the 8th grade at District #40 in rural Lindsay before attending high school in Newman Grove. There she graduated with the class of 1965. Jane attended University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she received her degrees in Spanish and Sociology. Jane moved back to the area and taught Spanish in Albion and Madison for many years.
Jane was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church as well as WELCA and church choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ for church. In her free time Jane would quilt, read, travel with family, spend time her pet dogs, and traveling with the "Gaither Girls" to many Gospel concerts. Some of her best memories were being able to travel across the world on mission trips as well as sponsoring school trips.
Jane is survived by three children: Jay (Shirley) Johnson of Newman Grove, NE; Glenn Johnson of Lindsay, NE; Karla (Lyle) Bennett of Tilden, NE; eight grandchildren: Mindy (Jorge) Enriquez; Tyler (Mikalah) Johnson; Sarah Johnson; Jayson Johnson; Courtney (Jeremy) Kilberg; Cody (Emma) Bennett; Callista (Chris) Mimick; Caitlin (Zach) Ranslem; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Loren (Jan) Stone and Lowell (Danette) Stone all of rural St. Edward, NE; sister: Joan (Duane) Chilson of rural St. Edward, NE; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
