James Randall Allen

James R. Allen, 85, of Albion, NE passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Genoa Community Hospital-Long Term Care in Genoa, NE.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Carolann Hopcke, Rev. Adam Klinker, and Vicar Abigail Vetick officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.

James Randall Allen, son of Charles L. and Roxie (Lawrence) Allen, was born on April 27, 1937 in Salem, NE. James attended school at Morrill, KS and graduated from Morrill High School in 1955. He then went on to graduate from Highland Community College in Highland, KS where he received an Associate's degree in engineering.

On June 20, 1965, James was united in marriage to Darlene Janice Bantz at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE. The family travelled with James doing construction foreman work building grain elevators and feed mills. As their oldest son Kenneth neared school-age the couple returned to Albion where together, they owned and operated Qualsett Furniture Store. Following the sale of their furniture store, James worked seasonally driving a truck. James was assistant scoutmaster with Troop 155 in Albion for several years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially taking care of his garden, fruit trees, and occasionally going fishing.

James is survived by his two sons: Kenneth R. (Yasuko) Allen of Rochester, MN; Brian J. Allen of Talladega, AL; four grandchildren: Dean Allen; Josephine Allen; Jacquie (Gary) Benge; Mica Allen; two great-grandchildren: JJ Benge and Mason Benge; two sisters-in-law: Arletta Francis of Albion, NE; Joyce (George) Thomsen of Jarrett, TX; as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene; two brothers and two sisters.
