The only child of Mr. Ingwald H. and Stella I. Score, Gertrude was born on April 22, 1927 in Denver, CO. She attended Denver South High, Denver University, and Westminster College of Law, earning her J.D. cum laude at the age of 21, at a time when women lawyers were not common. She had a lifelong passion for the practice of law and she practiced in Colorado for almost 70 years. She was actively practicing law at the time of her passing. Her clients, judges, and even opposing counsel, held her in uniformly high regard, because of her vast experience, her encyclopedic knowledge of the law and procedure, her genuine concern for people, and her consummate professionalism.
Gertrude was a devoted mother who sacrificed so much and gave so much of herself to provide for her children to help become good people and succeed in life. Gratitude dear Mother, for all of the love, the advice, and most of all, for the times we had with you. We love you so much. We strive to honor you.
Her passing was sudden and graceful. She always remained remarkably healthy, fit, and active. Just weeks before, she enjoyed a week-long road trip, tent camping in the Black Hills, to see Mt. Rushmore. She called it a 'test run' for an upcoming road trip to Alaska. She made at least a dozen trips to Asia and Europe, and visited the Holy Land and Norway. She was busy preparing for another big trip overseas this summer. Her thirst for life never diminished. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was absolute, even as it continued to grow every single day. She was intensely grateful to God for the blessings of life, especially family and friends.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her dear father and mother, as well as countless other cherished loved ones including: Mr. Thor (Ingeborg) Score, her grandparents; her dear aunts Lene and Gertrude; her aunt Mable and all the Gladem family; beloved nieces and nephews; Mr. Pershing (Agnes) Kettelson; Norman and Conrad Score and the entire Score family. She rests next to her dear mother and dear aunt Lene in the Immanuel-Zion (North Branch) Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Gertrude is survived by her son Shelley; daughter Edna; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews, including: Mr. Alan (Julie) Kettelson, their two sons and their families.
With a love that transcends, she watches over all of us now.
Getrude A. Score, Esq.
