Gerald "Jerry" K. Lyon, 85, of Newman Grove, NE passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove, NE.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Fellowship Bible Church in Newman Grove, NE, with Rev. Chris Phelps officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newman Gove, NE with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #73 of Newman Grove, NE, Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard, and American Legion Riders. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Levander Funeral Home of Newman Grove, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald "Jerry" Keith Lyon, son of Verner E. and Mabel M. (Schmidt) Lyon was born May 7, 1939, in Newman Grove, NE. He attended Newman Grove High School and graduated with the class of 1957. On April 4, 1961, Jerry entered the US Marine Corps and served his country honorably until his discharge on April 3, 1964.

On September 26, 1965, Jerry married Karen "Kay" Curtis at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. From this union, Jerry was blessed with two sons. The couple lived in rural Newman Grove where they raised their children. The couple later divorced. Jerry was a true farmer that enjoyed working the land and getting his hands dirty.

Jerry was a longtime member of the Rosehill Evangelical Free Church in rural Newman Grove and of the American Legion Post #73 of Newman Grove. He was an active member of Chapter 12 International Harvester Collectors Club, The Rae Valley Heritage Association, and the Cast Iron Seat Collectors Association. Jerry was proud to be a U.S. Marine and showed his appreciation and continued dedication by being involved with the Legion. He was also proud of the International Harvester equipment he gained over the many, many years of farming.

Jerry is survived by his two sons: Marlin (Rita) Lyon of Lincoln, NE; Doyle (Rachelle Kamrath) of Woodbridge, VA; four grandchildren: Samantha, Jack, Reginald, and Alice Lyon; along with other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Vern and Mabel Lyon; and sister: Joy Lyon Sigerson.
