Gerald "Whitey" Ambrose Reinhart, son of Ambrose and Marcella (Frisch) Reinhart was born on June 16, 1951, and raised on a farm just outside of Albion, growing up alongside his nine brothers and sisters. Farm life shaped his strong work ethic, dedication, and lifelong passion for agriculture. He attended school at Albion and graduated from Albion Public School in 1969.
Whitey worked for over 30 years with the local propane company. Eventually, he returned fully to the life he loved most farming and raising horses and cattle. The farm wasn't just his livelihood; it was his pride and joy. His all-time favorite time of the year was harvest.
From a young age, Whitey loved the rodeo and even tried his hand at bull riding in his earlier years. He later found great success and camaraderie in team penning, spending countless hours in the arena alongside some of his closest friends. An avid outdoorsman, he treasured hunting and fishing trips shared with his sons and friends, creating memories that will be carried on for generations. Above all, Whitey was an incredible and devoted father to his children. He was especially proud of his nine grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Papa Whitey." Being their grandfather was one of the greatest joys of his life.
Whitey was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE. He was also a member of the Nebraska Cattlemans Association.
Whitey will be remembered for his strong hands, his generous heart, his love of family, his triumphs in the arena, and his love for the outdoors. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the traditions he passed down, and his family who loved him dearly.
Whitey is survived by his children, Tatum (Kim) Wallin of Omaha, Nebraska, Carrie Anne Christo of Omaha, Nebraska; Nicholas (Christina) Reinhart of New York City, New York; and Alex (Erin) Reinhart of Elkhorn, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: Saige (fiancé Logan Sartori) Christo of Lincoln, NE; Cira Christo of St. Louis, MO; Blaine Christo of Sioux City, IA; Isaac Christo of Omaha, NE; Lakyn, Dax, and Pierce Reinhart of Elkhorn, NE; Laila and Eli Wallin of Omaha, NE; five sisters: Rita Hegemann of Columbus, Nebraska, Jeanette (James) Goodding of Ceresco, Nebraska, Marcella "Marci" (Mark) McLean of Palm Bay, Florida, Marilyn (Andy) Myrtue of Murray, Nebraska, Julie (Thomas) Fehringer of Lindsay, Nebraska; three brothers: Bob (Teresa) Reinhart of Grand Island, NE, David (Cherie) and Daniel Reinhart of Albion, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Reinhart; his mother, Marcella Reinhart; his sister, Elaine Reinhart; his son-in-law, Ryan Christo; and brother-in-law, Jim Hegemann.
