Gail was born on January 19, 1957, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Ervin and Mary Ann (Seier) Borer. He attended St. John’s Catholic School in Petersburg for his elementary education and graduated from Pope John Central Catholic High School in Elgin in 1975.

Gail was first married to Peg and blessed with two sons, Doug (Lori) and Chris (Brooke), who remained a central part of his life and pride. On October 19, 1996, he married the love of his life, Kathryn Dush, in Columbus, Nebraska. Together they made their home in Albion, where they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family. Gail was a devoted member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Gail spent 40 years as a well driller and branch manager for Grosch Irrigation. Even after retirement, he continued to lend his knowledge and strong work ethic to Central Valley Ag, Helena Chemical, and countless local farmers who needed a helping hand. He continued to work on gear heads and sold them to local farmers throughout his life. Gail believed in hard work and perseverance, and he passed on the value of “grinding”, giving your all in everything you do, to those around him.

Gail had a deep passion for life. He loved all sports, horse racing, sharp with the stock market and little gambling for fun. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing cards, fishing, gardening, canning, and working on cars. Above all, he cherished watching his sons and grandchildren compete in athletic events, always their biggest supporter on and off the field.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn; his sons, Doug (Lori) and Chris (Brooke); and his stepdaughter, Melissa Crago. He is also survived by his siblings: Tom (Diana) Borer, Nancy (Kenny) Parks, Alice (Jim) Mescher, Shirley (Jerry) Chramosta, Ann (Floyd) Knust, and Keith (Nora) Borer. Gail was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and one great grandchild: Chelsey (Matt) McConnell, Lauren (Jay) Knudsen, Reese, Rya, Ty, Parker, Sienna, step-grandchildren Ben and Madison Reilly and great grandchild Ash. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Ervin and Mary Ann; brothers Floyd, Dean, and infant sister: Elaine Borer.

Gail will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his generous spirit, his love of family, and his ability to live life fully, working hard, playing hard, and never slowing down. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
