Ruth Adrean (Swanson) Pribnow, was born June 29, 1917, to John and Beda (Nordgren) Swanson on a farm northeast of Bradish, NE. She was baptized on November 16, 1919, at home. She was later confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in rural St. Edward, NE. Ruth attended Leader Dist. #20 until 10th grade. She then kept houses for two of her brothers.
On April 30, 1937, Ruth married Otto Pribnow at Zion Lutheran Church. To this union eight children were born, two sons died in infancy. The couple lived on a farm northeast of Newman Grove, NE until 1943 when they moved to a farm, west of Albion, NE (Hoppe Place). In 1947 they purchased a farm northeast of Primrose, NE. Sadly Otto passed away in May of 1981 at the age of 65. Ruth was left with the task of managing the farm on her own. She quickly learned the clerical duties of managing a farm from writing a check all the way to bookkeeping. Ruth managed the farm all on her own for 18 years while raising a child at home. In 1999, Ruth sold the farm.
Ruth was a homemaker and helped Otto on the farm. She raised flocks of chickens and was proud of her huge garden. Ruth taught Bible school at Dennison school as well as Sunday school at Zion Lutheran Church for a long time. She and Otto belonged to a neighborhood pitch club for many years. Ruth will be remembered for her yummy chocolate cake and other delicious food. She was very talented and played the piano for many house dances. Ruth especially enjoyed spending time with friends, neighbors, children, and grandchildren. Throughout her life, her greatest loves were for music and her family. On June 29, 2024, Ruth was appointed by the Governor to Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Marlene Tibbs of Grand Island, NE; Leroy Pribnow of Hartington, NE; Lois (Walt) Hoefer of Albion, NE; Carol (Duayne) Muhle of Columbus, NE; Dale (Karen) Pribnow of Lincoln, NE; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; along with many other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Otto Pribnow; two infant sons; son and daughter-in-law: Roger (Mary) Pribnow; son-in-law: Earl Tibbs; daughter-in-law: Cleta Pribnow; as well as eight brothers and four sisters.
