Florence Philomena Streeter

Florence P. Streeter, 95, of Albion, NE passed away August 25, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society-Albion in Albion, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Matt Gutowski and Deacon Jim Schindel officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. wake service, at the church.

Florence Philomena Streeter, daughter of George and Mary (Wlaschin) Klassen was born on December 15, 1928, at Albion, NE. Florence was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Church in Albion. She attended school at several different one room country schools and graduated from Albion High School in 1946. Following her graduation, she worked as a housekeeper for several families in Boone County.

On April 20, 1949, Florence was united in marriage to Robert Alex Streeter at St. Michael's Church in Albion, NE.  The couple lived and farmed west of Loretto, NE until 1977, when they moved to a farm near Petersburg, NE. They later moved into Albion where she resided until her death. Once her children were out of school, Florence worked at the Petersburg Lockers and after moving to Albion in 1981, she worked at the Dunes Motel and Pizza Hut.

Florence was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Loretto Extension Club, St. Michael's Altar Society, numerous card clubs, and was a lifetime member of St. Michael's Church. Throughout her life, Florence enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, baking, and gardening.

Florence is survived by her four children: Marie Rouse of Grand Island, NE; Kathryn Schroeder of Lincoln, NE; Tom (Sue) Streeter of Albion, NE; Dennis (Cheri) Streeter of Annandale, MN; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Leo (Judy) Klassen of Albion, NE; two sisters-in-law: Celine Klassen of Papillion, NE; Janice Klassen of Albion, NE; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Bill in 1981; great-grandchild: Jonathan Vetick; four brothers: Joe Klassen; Jerome (Mavis) Klassen; Bob (JoAnn) Klassen; Merle Klassen; and sister: Mary Ann (Duane) Hinze.
