Evelyne Gay Wassili, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Cloverlodge Care Center, St. Edward, NE.

As per her wishes, she was cremated. There will be no services

Evelyne was born on December 11, 1954, in Boulder, Colorado, to Charles Harvey and Rachel (Eagleton) Harvey. She spent much of her life in Colorado and was united in marriage to James Clyde Wassili on September 15, 2011, in Huerfano County, Colorado. James preceded her in death. 

Evelyne had a deep appreciation for nature and found joy in the simple beauty of the world around her. She especially loved horses, wildlife, and spending time in the great outdoors. Her love of nature and independent spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew her. 

She is survived by her son, Felipe Martinez and spouse Marci Martinez of Moffat, Colorado; her daughter, Connie Martinez; and her grandchildren, Felipe Martinez, Charles, Annelise, Gabriel, Gracelynn, and Zaelee; nieces who were her care givers here in Nebraska: Cyndi (Scott) Greger, Tracy Zentner, and Cheryl (Duane) Ransdell; along with other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Wassili; her parents, Charles and Rachel Harvey; her brother, Donald Harvey; and her sisters, Phyllis Waymire and Karen Taylor.
