Elliott C. Broberg, 93, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove, NE.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE with Pastor Claire Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity West Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #73 of Newman Grove, NE, the Navy Funeral Honor Guard, and the American Legion Riders. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for a later designation.

Elliott C. Broberg, son of Alfred and Ellen (Johnson) Broberg, was born on February 20, 1931, at the Hopefield Farm, rural Madison County, NE. He attended school at District 49 in Madison County until the family moved to Newman Grove, NE in 1941. There he completed his education and graduated with the class of 1948.

Following graduation Elliott entered the U.S. Navy, served two terms: April 25, 1949, through April 28, 1950, and was recalled during the Korean conflict and served from February 26, 1952, through October 8, 1953.

On February 3, 1952, Elliott married Jolene M. Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, NE. From this union Elliott was blessed with three children. Elliott and Jolene lived and raised their children in Newman Grove, NE. During his high school years, Elliott worked for his father in the carpentry business and continued this trade for the next 30 years. Elliott began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1955 as a substitute rural mail carrier. He continued as a substitute and later as a clerk and became a full-time rural mail carrier in 1979 until his retirement in 1996.

Elliott was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a 70-year member of the American Legion Post #73 and also was a member of V.F.W. Post #10035 of Newman Grove, NE. He served as a volunteer fireman and rescue unit attendant for 25 years. Elliott enjoyed gardening and he was a meticulous craftsman, tinkering around with his carpentry skills. He enjoyed his collegiate sports, especially his beloved Huskers. He was a devoted husband and caretaker to Jolene during her illness. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Elliott is survived by his son: Jeff (Susan McCarthy) Broberg of Ocala, FL; daughter: Joni (Brian) Guenther of Lincoln; five grandchildren: Andrea (Scott) Bergener; Heather (Alex) Schultz; Ryne (Jordyn) Broberg; Brandon (Megan) Guenther; Zachary Guenther; five great-grandchildren: Lexi, Caleb, Felicity, and Cecilia Bergener and Greylin Guenther; special niece: Deb Matson; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Jolene Broberg in 2012; son: Jedd Broberg in 2024; brothers: Dean and Gerald Broberg; and sister: Aris Johnson.
