Earl W. Roberts

Earl William Roberts, 97, of St. Edward, NE died November 12, 2020 at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE. He had been in failing health for some time.

Private family Mass will be Monday morning with Father William L'Heureux officiating.  The public is welcome to join us at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery for burial.  Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edward, NE.

Social distancing, and current Covid-19 DHM's will be followed at the visitation and funeral, and masks will be required.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Earl W. Roberts, the son of Clarence and Clara Roberts, was born November 22, 1922 on the family farm near Loup City, NE.  After 5 years, they moved to a farm near St. Edward, NE.  Earl attended elementary school at Bogus Boone County District 11 and then graduated from St. Edward High School in 1940. During World War II he was able to serve his country by attending Frye Aircraft School in Omaha, NE where he was trained to work at the Glenn L Martin bomber plant in Bellevue, NE. Later on, he returned to farm with his Dad, Clarence Roberts.

On June 6, 1945, Earl was united in marriage to Dolores C. Koerber at the St Edward Catholic Church.  They lived on a farm in rural St. Edward where they farmed and raised livestock.  They were members of the St. Edward Catholic Church.

Earl served on the board of directors for the St. Edward Farmers' Cooperative for 12 years.  He enjoyed fishing, playing his banjo, and listening to the Lawrence Welk Show.  He also loved every minute spend with all of his grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: Sally Berthelsen, (Larry) of Aurora, CO, Steve Roberts, (Mary) of St. Edward and Louise Barr, (Denny) of Omaha; six grandchildren: Kirsten Mezey of Parker CO, Erika Cure of Stratton CO, Andy Roberts of Albion NE, Tyler Roberts of Columbus NE, Abby Oddo of Reseda CA and Chris Barr of Las Vegas NV; and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores C. Roberts and his sister June L. Boker.
