Doris V. Brengelman

Doris V. Brengelman, 96, of Albion, NE, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the Loretto United Methodist Church with Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Doris Virginia Brengelman, daughter of Otto and Euretta Ione (Robinson) Milburn, was born May 5, 1923 at Brush, CO. She moved with her family to Nebraska, living where her father found work. The third oldest of nine siblings, Doris helped to care for her younger siblings and also worked out of the home helping neighbors, while attending a number of different schools before graduating from St. Edward High School in 1940.

On November 5, 1944, Doris married Virgil Brengelman at the United Methodist Church in Columbus, NE. Doris worked at Irene's Dress Shop in Columbus while Virgil was overseas during WWII. Upon his return, they made their home on a farm west of Albion, NE where they raised their three children: Suzanne, John and Sally. Doris was a farm wife, raising chickens, helping her husband with the farming and livestock, and also worked at JM McDonald's in Albion for 25+ years.

Doris was a lifelong member of the Loretto United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women, a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the YM Club.

She is survived by her children: Suzanne (Don) Sanderson of New Ulm, MN; John (Jody) Brengelman of Albion, NE; Sally (Mark) Sup of Albion, NE; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Howard (Ella) Milburn of Columbus, NE; sisters/brothers-in-law: Betty (Harold) Staub and Betty Brengelman of Waterloo, NE; Jeanne (Lanny) Young of Albion, NE; Vera Thiem of Grand Island, NE; Richard (Karen) Brengelman of Overland Park, KS; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil; great-grandchildren Hannah and Nathan Luetkenhaus; brothers Donald, Harold, James and Wayne Milburn; sisters June Stoner, Merna Lapoint, Ardath Levesque; brothers/sisters-in-law: Helen Milburn, Darlene Milburn, Tony Lapointe, Maryann Milburn and Joe Levesque.
